ConnectUC, USA Phone’s unified communications app, just received a meaningful set of updates. Whether your team handles a high volume of calls, manages dozens of contacts, or coordinates across departments, these additions make the day-to-day work of running a cloud phone system noticeably smoother. Here’s what’s new and how each feature helps your team.
Outlook Contacts Now Appear Directly in ConnectUC
If your team uses Microsoft 365, this update removes a frustration you’ve probably lived with for a while. Once you authenticate with your Microsoft 365 account, your Outlook contacts appear inside ConnectUC’s contact list alongside your existing directory.
No more switching between apps to find a number. Your team sees the people they already work with in Outlook, right inside the same interface they use to make calls, send messages, and manage voicemail.
You can also add new contacts to Microsoft directly from ConnectUC. If you speak with someone new and want to save their details, you add them once and they appear in both places. For any business already invested in the Microsoft ecosystem, this connection between your cloud-based business phone system and your contact directory is a practical improvement you’ll notice on day one.
Know Your Call Quality in Real Time
ConnectUC now displays a call quality indicator during active calls. To see it, click the green signal icon during any call. The indicator refreshes every five seconds and draws on three measurements: WebRTC jitter, latency, and packet loss. If your connection degrades mid-call, you see it immediately rather than wondering why the audio sounds off.
For your team, this means faster troubleshooting and fewer awkward moments with clients. A rep can spot a quality drop, wrap up the call gracefully, and flag the issue to IT before the next call starts. Managers and IT staff get a clearer picture of network performance without waiting for complaints to surface after the fact.
This kind of visibility matters more as teams rely on cloud-based communication for every client interaction. Your UCaaS provider should give you the tools to monitor what’s happening on your calls, and this indicator does exactly that.
Call History Now Shows Quality Data Too
The call quality indicator doesn’t stop when a call ends. ConnectUC now attaches quality data to each call record in your call history. To review it, open any call record and click the green signal icon. The quality metrics for that call appear right there.
If a client calls back to say the audio was choppy, your team can pull up that specific record and see exactly what the quality looked like. If a particular time of day or a specific user consistently shows degraded call quality, the pattern becomes visible in the history. That turns a vague complaint into something your IT team can investigate and resolve.
Add Personal Notes to Any Contact
ConnectUC now lets you attach free-form text notes to individual contacts. These notes are for your own reference, so you can write whatever is useful: a client’s preferred communication style, the context of your last conversation, a reminder about a pending follow-up, or a note about which department they work in.
Think of it as a lightweight layer of CRM-style context built into your contact list. A sales rep can note that a prospect prefers afternoon calls. An account manager can record that a client is mid-contract renewal. An office manager can flag that a vendor contact changed roles. The information stays attached to the contact and available the next time anyone on your team pulls up that record.
For small and mid-sized teams that don’t always have a full CRM open during every call, this feature fills a real gap.
Redial Faster from the Dial Pad
ConnectUC now surfaces your recent calls on the dial pad, so your team can redial without navigating away from the dialing view. For anyone who makes a high volume of outbound calls, this removes a small but repeated interruption from the workflow.
A rep who calls a prospect, gets voicemail, and needs to try again a few minutes later can do it in two clicks from the same screen. That kind of friction reduction adds up across a full workday.
Keyboard Shortcuts Across the Entire App
ConnectUC now supports keyboard shortcuts across calls, messages, voicemail, navigation, presence, and directory functions. Power users and anyone who prefers to keep their hands on the keyboard can move through the app without reaching for the mouse. To see the full list, go to Preferences and select Keyboard Shortcuts.
Manage Video Meetings Right on the Mobile App
ConnectUC now supports Video Meetings on both the desktop and mobile app. Bring your productivity to new levels and never miss an important meeting again, no matter where you might be.
How to Access These Features
All of these updates are available now in the ConnectUC desktop app for Windows and Mac, as well as the web browser version. Update your app if you haven’t already, and the new features will be ready to use.
To connect your Outlook contacts, go to your account settings and authenticate with Microsoft 365. The call quality indicator, contact notes, and recent calls on the dial pad are available without any additional configuration.
